Apollo Memungkinkan Program Online dan Offline

SAN FRANCISCO - Adobe Systems Inc meluncurkan software desain baru untuk menjalankan program web secara offline. Software ini juga membedakan program offline di desktop dengan program di web.

Dengan mengusung kode web 2.0 atau Apollo, software ini mampu menjalankan aplikasi pada web browser online dan desktop komputer offline tanpa harus mengetik ulang kode-kode yang ada. Kode yang biasa disebut Rich Internet Application (RIA) untuk komputer desktop ini tidak perlu ditulis ulang meskipun tidak terkoneksi pada web.

Aplikasi ini sangat menguntungkan dan dinilai lebih fleksibel untuk ukuran pembuat software independen khususnya pengintensifan data atau aplikasi multimedia yang mengalami kegagalan koneksi wireless. “Kapabilitas ini semakin memudahkan programmer untuk membuat program dengan software ‘drag and drop’ untuk online maupun offline,” kata Michelle Turner, VP Adobe’s Platform seperti dikutip Yahoonews, Senin (11/6/2007).

Apollo yang juga disebut Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) telah digunakan oleh eBay, perusahaan layananan perbankan, bahkan penyedia retail musik online. Aplikasi ini juga dapat dijalankan pada sistem operasi Windows milik Microsoft ataupun Macintosh milik Apple.

Ternyata microsoft memiliki saingan sistem program seperti ini namun software buatan Microsoft mampu menjalankan program Flash pada komputer lokal.
